July 4th - Independence Day & the Casual Lies Handicap

July 4, 2013

Dear Readers,

July 4,th Independence Day has always been, next to Christmas, my favorite holiday. Right now barbecues are lighting up all over the country. Potato salad in the refrigerator along with deviled eggs (yum), fruit salad, macaroni salad, jello, and you get the picture. A great celebration for a great country and the people who have helped maintain its greatness.

As I have been telling you, I will be celebrating at the Alameda County Fair with thousands of people. What’s more American than a County Fair? Though modernized in places over the years, the Pleasanton fairgrounds still typifies the old county fair feel and traditions.

I must admit a 102 degrees of heat doesn’t entice me to attend, but the running of the Casual Lies Handicap would bring me out if it was 120 degrees or -20 degrees below. I am so excited.

Tune in tomorrow for the details, and I leave you with my best wishes for everybody all around the world that today will be a good one for you and yours.

I noticed another review of the memoir came in last night, and it is so touching. Follow the link below to Amazon, if you would like to read it.

Take care,
Shelley Riley
