Holiday Cheer

December 24, 2014

Dear Readers,

I left the house yesterday dressed for December 23rd. I wore warm socks, boots, sweater, jacket, wool scarf, gloves, and had an umbrella tucked in my satchel. The only problem was the outside temperatureseventy degrees.

It’s California, after all. But nonetheless, I expect certain things in life and that includes packing away my summer cloths in November. I’m not complaining, put my roses are so happy with the rain and the warm temperatures, that they think it’s time to bloom rather than hibernate. When it does turn cold they’re going to get caught with their petals out.

Despite this, I’m surrounded by Holiday Cheer. Lights are strung, cards are arriving daily and another celebration is scheduled for tonight.

The Eclipse ballots are out and we will know soon enough, when the votes are tallied, who will claim the top prizes. I know who I like, but I must admit, I wish there could be a tie. I hesitate to speculate, because I know there are many varied opinions, and I don’t get to vote. I do get to have my opinion though, and no matter the outcome of the voting, there was only one horse who promoted racing into nearly every household in this country.

If I walked into Raley’s supermarket, gathered up my groceries, and started up a conversation with the folks in the check-out line, they would know what I was talking about if I mentioned California Chrome. Can we say that about any other name? But is promoting horse racing on the ballot?

Speaking of promotion, Casual Lies – A Triple Crown Adventure in the Kindle electronic format, is enjoying a four day promotion price of $2.99 on Amazon, and that starts today. I’m also excited to announce that I’ve wrapped up the writing on my current book, and that it will be published within the next week. The title to look for is, “For Want of a Horse, A Short Story Collection. I’ll be writing more about it once it’s available on line.

Once again, and as always, thank you for reading my blog and I hope all is well in your part of the world.
